A look ahead…

I love this time of year, the old drawing to a close as a new one begins to unfold. Like freshly fallen snow the new year lies before me, unmarked and with endless possibilities. If I’ve learned anything over the past couple years, I’ve learned life can do a one-eighty in just 12 short months. So with anticipation I look ahead to what I believe will be a very good year.

Less than one year ago I began my first blog, Line Drawings. Here is my very first entry:

Now a year later, Line Drawings has morphed into The Sweet Life and I have, after a decade of searching, found fluidity in my training, skills, and passions, allowing me to do what I love. To you, all my readers, I owe a big THANK YOU for reading and sharing The Sweet Life and helping me grow this tiny little blog in such a short time.
Here is a sneak peak of The Sweet Life in 2013:
1. Eden turns one.

Eden1yr

A couple weeks after the start of 2012 my tiny little Eden joined us. Somehow a year has passed. Early on in The Sweet Life I wrote several articles on raising a vegan baby. As Eden enters into her waddler, then toddler years I imagine I will find more to contribute to this section of my blog. In an attempt to create more community, I appeal to all my parent and vegan readers. I would LOVE to hear your stories, adventures, and advices in vegan parenting. If anyone is interested in guest blogging on this topic, please contact me. Likewise, if you have any questions or suggestions let me know and I will work them into the expansion of this topic.

2. Back to health.

After enjoying a delicious and decadent holiday season, I am ready to reset my body. For the month of January, I will be eating a gluten-free and refined-sugar free diet. Additionally I will be juicing at least 4 times a week and eating at least 50 percent raw. Does anyone want to join me for a holiday detox? I would love to open up my blog for the month of January to your recipes, photos, and experiences.

3. For Sale.

Over the next couple months (by popular demand) I will be working on adding a Sweet Life webstore to this site. You will find easy-to-ship foods, drink mixes, and candies (pictured above), as well as made-to-order prints of my photography. Although this transition feels a little strange, I have had many requests for these items and am excited to grow in this way. Are there any other items you would be interested in seeing at The Sweet Life webstore?

I am most excited to be offering…

4. My new ebook!

raw3

With a projected release date of late March, I will be selling (at a VERY affordable cost) my first ebook full of raw desserts. Pictured above is my completely raw Banana Cream Pie and Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons.  I have been crazy-excited about this project and can’t wait to have it available!

What else 2013 has in store? only time will tell.

Thank you again for being part of The Sweet Life’s beginning. I hope you all have a wonderful New Year!

  1. So excited for all your great ideas–I want to join your holiday detox! It would be lovely to see quick and easy ways to make it work :)

  2. Happy New Year Sarah and Happy First Birthday Eden! Lots to look forward to in 2013.

  3. Good to see other vegan mum raising vegan babes… my 3 kids are vegan (as are hubby and I) but we only made the change just before my youngest started solids (initially it was just him and I doing it) so my older two have had the rest of their lives eating “normal”.. so I’m super proud of how well they’ve adapted.. as a family we are doing so much better and I know my kids eat so much better than their peers.. now it’s just a matter of convincing their grandparents of this ;)

    • Congrats on making the switch to the whole family. That must be hard to transition the kids when they are a bit older. I think there are a lot of people doing this these days, and a lot of grandparents that are less sure about it, but what we really need is more literature out there. I hope I ca provide some in my experiences. And if you have any stories to tell, I welcome them on my site so that people begin to normalize vegan children more. Thanks for your comment.

      • Would love to share my story if you’re interested… it’s just starting to get better as my dairy loving parents have just told me they are going Pescetarian which is huge for them and shows they have seen changes in my family that they can’t ignore. Maybe one day I’ll get them off the cheese too ;)

  4. Can’t wait for the ebook! That banana cream pie looks amazing :) Congrats on “turning one”!
